NEW YORK, Jul. 11, 2007 (AP Online delivered by Newstex) -- One of the major delights of last season was the 'Encores!' concert version of an Irving Berlin rarity, 'Face the Music,' at City Center.

This raucous 1932 musical, with a book by Moss Hart, poked fun at show biz, the Depression and Prohibition. What is more important, it was chock full of good Berlin tunes, most famously 'Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee.' But there were others, including the haunting 'Soft Lights and Sweet Music,' 'Manhattan Madness' and 'It Say It's Spinach (And the Hell With It).'

All have been captured in a buoyant, irresistible cast recording by DRG of the 'Encores!' production featuring Judy Kaye, Walter Bobbie and Lee Wilkof. The three performers handle many of the comedy songs while Jeffry Denman and Meredith Patterson warble their way through the entrancing love duets.

Try listening to 'Soft Lights and Sweet Music' _ with its original orchestrations _ and you won't be able to get it out of your head.
