Time to say good bye

When I first started contributing to Indymedia's UK site I was delighted to see true grass roots reporting from people who had not had a voice in the past.
Indymedia provided a platform not just for written reports but also photos, audio and video. We told the truth about demonstrations, actions and campaigns when the mainstream corporate media followed the line of the State and Capitalism.
I felt proud to have played a part but these days that that pride is no longer there. Indymedia's UK site has changed, changed for the worse. Around 12 months ago some of the original team left to follow other projects and this allowed a small group to dominate the daily running of the site. This group controls access to the editing code, the rights to hide or remove posts & comments and perhaps as might be expected this power has corrupted.
Scores of posts are hidden every day, comments are removed or hidden and rarely reported to the editorial lists. Any questioning of these actions results in flame wars of a very personal nature where ones sexuality and politics are questioned.
I will no longer be contributing but hope that in the future Indymedia in the UK will return to the great site it once was
