My ol’ mucker Mordechai, (the Israeli ‘Nuclear’ Whistleblower, Mordechai Vanunu) -  http://www.vanunu.org/ ,  http://www.serve.com/vanunu/ , he’s in trouble again, talking to foreigners, the lout! He has been sentenced to a new term of six months in prison for such crimes? He can appeal against the decision in September – and we have until then to raise as much awareness of his plight as is humanly possible….

After 20 years incarceration, 11½ of which, spent in solitary confinement? He has got to be worth 5 minutes of anyone’s time….so…

While doing as members of CND requested and hastling my MP (  http://www.writetothem.com/ ) to sign EDM 1813, tabled by Jeremy Corbyn MP, which calls upon the Government to ask the Israeli government to lift all restrictions on Mordechai Vanunu and allow him the freedom to travel, I visited the 10 Downing Street petition site to find that there is one for Vanunu and although the number of signatures has gone from 13 to 277 these last few days – I’ve no doubt that you, like me, would like to see his petition higher up the list – we would need in excess of 14,000 to get him in the Top 10. Could you and your groups sign  http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Free-Vanunu/ and bandy it about a bit to help raise awareness of his plight – a modern day Galileo or what? The only proviso on this site is that you have to be a UK resident. Maybe if you don’t reside in the UK you could press for a similar campaign in your country, especially if you live in Israel or the US.

Is it not time for the freedom and unrestricted movement of Mordechai Vanunu? He seems a bit skint to me – keeps asking for money etc. Why not give him a job as a Peace Envoy? His interpersonal skills may need brushing up a bit – he has a tendency to shut himself in a box for 11 years at a time but I still think he’d make a better job of it than say Tony Blair, for example. Anyway, here’s to his immediate release from all restrictions or a continued and growing protest until so.
