No Border organising camp meetings report

One of No Borders | 05.07.2007 10:36 | No Border Camp 2007 | Migration | London

A really constructive weekend of meetings was held on 30th June and 1st July to plan the No Border camp near Gatwick in September. Around 30 activists from around Britain came to London to discuss and share ideas and skills to figure out how we are actually going to do this!

Amidst many decisions about camp organising minutiae, the most interesting decisions we made were:

There will be a day of public actions about the new detention centre at UK's borders
(e.g. airports, train-stations, detention-centres, short-term holding centres etc) on
20th and 21st July.

No Borders will have a presence at the Camp for Climate Action – including a workshop on migration and climate change.

There will also be a No Borders workshop at the Earth First! Gathering.

2 fundraising and awareness raising gigs are been organised in London:

- Sat 21st July – workshops and party, 3pm-late, Chats Palace, 42-44 Brooksby's Walk,
Hommerton, Hackney E9 6DF

- Sat 11th August -7pm til late Cross Kings, 126 York Way, nr King's Cross, N1 OAX

Materials will soon be made available for all groups to help distribute and mobilise
with. Also more publicity about the camp is on its way.

The next meeting will be at 12pm Sunday 22nd July, RampARTs Social Centre, 15 Rampart Street, London.

We need all sorts of people who can offer all sorts of practical help, resources and
advice! Please do contact your nearest no border group if you can help out, or email
 g-anbc2007@riseup.net.

We are also in desperate need of funds! Please consider donating - any amount very much appreciated. Contact us or send cheques, payable to No Borders Brighton, to No Borders Brighton, PO Box 74, Brighton BN1 4ZQ. (cheques to brighton no borders should have 'no border camp' written on the back:-)
