Eight children (4 girls and 4 boys) are coming to Oxford for 2 weeks. They will visit our city, as well as London, the Cotswolds and make a trip to the sea side. During the 2nd week, they will take part in the Pegasus Theatre Summer Youth Workshop. There will be many opportunities for the people of Oxford to participate.
For the 2nd time, the Oxford-Ramallah Friendship Association (ORFA - www.oxford-ramallah.org) is bringing 8 children - 4 girls and 4 boys - to Oxford from the Al Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, Palestine. They will be here between the 20th of July and the 6th of August 2007.
They will visit our city, as well as London, the Cotswolds and make a trip to the sea side. They will also meet with local schools, youth groups, charity organisations and engage in sports, including sailing at the Farmoor reservoir. These activities will be as many oportunity to flourish and exchange experiences.
This trip will be for them a break from their daily routines under military occupation. They will see that there is support for them outside their country, and they will have a chance to tell everybody what life is like in the Palestine.
In the 2nd week, they will participate in the Pegasus Theatre Summer Youth Workshop. Together with local children, they will create a play concerning the history of Oxford... This workshop will culminate in a performance at the theatre. On Saturday 6th of August, a public farewell party will be organised at Pegasus (see poster).
There are many ways in which local people are able to help. If you would like to meet them, show support, hear stories first hand, or simply help with running the activities, please let us know by email at oxford-ramallah-owner@yahoogroups.com. You can also come to our meetings - see www.oxford-ramallah.org for info.
