A nationwide strike in Nigeria has entered its third day after talks broke down with the government over a fuel increase of 15%. Unions have now threatened to close down water and electricity supplies unless the government reverse the fuel increase. The strike has already closed down most schools, transportation, banks and government offices across the country. Oil exports have continued although the unions have withdrawn their members from the oil industry and a stoppage here can be expected within a few days if the dispute is not settled.
