Computers works by a basic switching sequence.One is on and the other is off.There is no other possible way it can work.This is a fundamental process.This process is based on two things.One mathematics and physical properties.First the physchical properties are also universally accepted as silicon.As in transistors and intergrated circuits.,previously valves,now returning.Now the on off sequence is governed by a mathematical principle.We all know mathematical principles are universal?Having assumed we are all agreed on that then the next step is the equations that relate to computing.Any 4th year student will tell you that a logic gate is simply an on off,or an on on,or an off off sequence.But lets assume we are all primary school kids.We are playing hop skotch.In or out.On or off.This is how the fundamental principle of the transistor works.Lets go back a little bit to the diode,which is only a half transistor.Two diode = 1 transistor.So a diode is either on or off,if reversable off or on.The principle stays constant.And cannot ever change.The main thing invented,yeah,invented,hah ha.Was the IC.The intergrated circuit.Or the IC as no one who realy knows.The IC was the culmination of many silicon transistors in slices on a small plane.Able to define the signal transmission of ion signals.Sounds complicated?But it means many smaller bits were faster doing the same job of their grannys.Something you can teach your kids to do for you,and depending on how many you have the faster you can do it.So to recap we have the elongated diode.To the squat transistor to the intergrated circuit..Then we move to the processor.This took the ic to the same place as the transister to the ic.Many ic were intergrated onto the one chip as a processor.But.And this is a big but.The same thing still applies.The absolute fundamental process cannot be changed.Regardless of how many ic'c or transistors in the circuit of a pc the fundamental electonices are defined by physics.
Now we go to the properties of the words of the IC's.This is were it gets complicated.But if you keep in mind what i have said it will not be too hard.Every chip on every pc is also governed by the same laws.But now we go from mathematics to arithmatic.Remember it?1 + 1 = 2.Or on = on = 2.You geting there?
