Calling Activists involved in the struggle against sexual orientation oppression

Bradley Day | 11.06.2007 21:03 | Gender | Repression | Social Struggles

I'm launching a Swansea based campaign aimed at raising awareness of the plight of qweer/LGBT persons in Poland, Russian and Eastern Europe. I am calling on anyone who has been involved in the grass-roots struggle to speak at our launch invent in September.

There is a desperate need to redress the balance of LGBT organisations who concern themselves solely with UK based issues. Poland and Russia are both administrations that undertake widescale oppression on persons who do not conform to the heteronormative identity.

I therefore am launching a campaign in September at Swansea University to highlight the plight of Russia and Poland and urge solidarity with the qweer/LGBT persons of those countries. There will be a campaign launch that will bring together students from the university interested in finding out more, and I would really like to have someone with grassroots experience who is able to visit the university and talk to us first hand about these stuggles.

If anyone fits this descriptions please please contact me on  370885@swansea.ac.uk so we can talk more.

Many thanks
Brad Day
