Foie-Gras leafleting demo in Cambridge – E-Mail Campaign

Demo report and action alert against ‘French Products’ market stall in Cambridge, regarding the sale of Foie-Gras
A small demonstration was held today in front of the ‘French Products’ stall at the Cambridge city centre market due to its sale of Foie-Gras, a so-called delicacy the production of which commonly involves force-feeding geese by shoving tubes down the animals’ throats. The animals’ liver then swells painfully. With a number of businesses now refusing to sell this product, ‘French Products’ needs to move with the times and end the sale of this unacceptable product.
The stall holder was visibly irritated by the presence of the peaceful protesters, calling them ‘idiots’ and hiding his jars of Foie-Gras. The public, on the whole, however, was brilliantly receptive with one woman even voicing her concerns to the stall holder in French! Hopefully the stall holder will see that Foie-Gras is only a small part of his business and rather than simply lose his trade the sensible option is simply to stop stocking it.
While it is not legal in the UK to force feed birds, the UK government claims they cannot ban its import under international trade rules. No matter what the British public thinks about this abusive product, under current trade rules, it cannot be banned on welfare grounds! To stop this atrocity we need all businesses to stop selling this product.
This is where you come in. Please (politely) ask ‘French Products’ to stop selling Foie-Gras, remind them about the cruelty involved and that stopping the sale of the product would probably be not only the right choice but a commercially valid one as well.
You can contact ‘French Products’ by e-mail and by phone

"Can you make me any example of cruelty free products if you do not mind.?............apart from that haven't you got better things to do (like for example rising money for children starving in Darfur) instead of wasting time sending e-mails to a poor market trader whose only fault is to be selling 10 (no more than that ) tins of foie gras (nb for the few customer buying them). and if by any chance it happens that you are one of that group of people that protest in front of my stand last sunday I would like to ask you: how many people do you think you made aware of the problem doing so? what, 20 customer that stop on my stand for buying? do you know that that day I made a loss? do you know that I have a 2 yrs old child that need to be feed, dressed etc and that day the money I have lost would never come back and I would struggle to pay for market bills, next order childminder etc CAN U UNDERSTAND HOW STUPID AND USELESS IS WHAT U R DOING IN THIS WAY. FINALLY CIWF HAS BEEN CONTACT BY ME AND THEY COMPLETLY DESAGREE WITH WHAT HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE CAN ONLY RUINED A POOR MARKET TRADER LIFE AND MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM 20 PEOPLE OF WHICH ONLY 10 WILL BE TAKING THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM MY CHILD BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN DOING MY DEBTS DEEPER AND HIS LIFE EASIER
IF YOU HAVE GOT THE BALLS GO AND PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE PRODUCER FACTORY IT WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REGARDS
and please next time you send me an e-mail BE HONEST and write name address and telephone number
LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU SOON"

If you werent selling the foie gras then people wouldnt buy it, like for example sainsburys and waitrose have stopped selling it.
The group who protested infront of your stall by all reports gave out 500 leaflets, so i would think they actually made quite alot of people aware of the problem. It is unfortunate that your child may suffer from your financial problems, this is true, but you wouldnt have financial problems if you werent trying to profit from animal cruelty. The market inspector gave you the stall for free that day anyway so what you say about affording market bills is untrue for the sunday mentioned.
I doubt it has ruined your life, maybe if you want to have an easy life you should change the items you trade in, stop selling meat and foie gras and start selling anything else from thousands of different products which dont cause animal suffering. Its not hard to profit with a conscience. The producer factory would be abroad, so in response to your remark about protesting there, they probably would have the 'balls', but it is a long journey away, when there are people closer who are causing the problem.
And why should people emailing you write their name address and telephone number, so you can give them an earful? They aren't stupid.
