The cameras you don't see

My brother in law is a supervisor in one of the large brewerys..A couple of weeks ago i went down there while he was on night shift. We do this every so often, a bit of a lads free booze up.But this particular night my brother in law said some of the lads off the security in the city centre shops were coming over for a drink.Sure enough about 3 am they arrived bearing gifts, the odd watch etc.Ok pillferred but we all know it happens and it;s like a works fiddle. But one thing did concern me.They had some video tapes from the security cameras of some of the shops cctv.It was'nt the fact that these guards had the tapes but how they were made and were the cameras were.In the womens changing cubicles. It later followed that the cameras were miniture wifi and able to film through pinholes. In other shops a method called through the mesh was used for normal size cameras, apparently focusing through fine mesh the camera sees past it but anyone looking at it cannot see the camera. Now this is supposed to be used to stop shoplifters going in with two items and putting one on under their clothing. The night security see them as cheap porn, they are mostly grunts.A couple of days later i went to my local Maplin to ask about detecting these cameras,as i have a young teenage daughter who shops in one or two of these shops.I was shown a small device called a pro-hunter that bleeps when it detects these cameras.Befor i gave it to my daughter i went for a walk about with it.In less than a mile I found 11 sources, were i could not see any cameras. But i'm sure they were there. One outside a police station and another a prison. One was even on a totaly deserted road with high hedges both sides!.So it would seem the estimates of just how many cctv cameras there are is way under estimated.Maplin also showed me some devices with a monitor that can intercept the video and audio of them. When i get enough spare cash i will get it and report back.
