Heading for the blockade of the west gate.

This morning it was announced at one of the camps that there would be an attempt at blocking the west gate of the G8. After just an hour and a half of planning the action set off towards its target. The Police quickly blocked the first road so everyone ran through a field and into the woods.

The woods around Heiligendamm are ideal for moving large numbers of people around unseen. All that money spent of helicopters and its relatively easy to get within spitting distance of the fence without drawing too much attention.

The trek took nearly two hours and it was very hot. Water was pased around the 1,500-2,000 people on the blockade. On the two occasions when the Police did catch up with us they were easily evaded. They dont like going into the woods...perhaps they are scared of the dark? A couple of barricades were built to slow down their vehicles.

Eventually the main road leading the West entrance was in sight and behind that was the fence. The rest as they say is history. See the next report....
