During a G8 summit blockade near Bad Doberan, following repeated media warnings a so-called "agent provocateur" has been unveiled. This violence provoking state employee has sneaked into the peaceful anti-G8 sit-in action and instigated people to violent deeds.
Apparently, various activists have tried to hold back this still unmasked guy, who showed up his aggressive temper urging people around him to violence. But eventually some protesters identified this man in black with a policeman.
When the news about this man's identity went round, activists literally mobbed him. The agent provocateur was freed by some Legal Team members from the mess he'd got himself into and handed him over to his police colleagues.
During the clashes between anti-capitalist globalization protesters and police it had already been cried out that violence by state paid agents provocateurs had massively contributed to the escalation of 2nd June in Rostock.

There were at least four of them

The right-wing (Springer) newspaper Der Spiegel reports:

"According to eyewitness reports, a group of four or five young men in black clothes drew attention because of their exceptional aggression towards the police. When asked to reveal their identity, they fled. But one of them was caught and unmasked, and someone recognized him as a policeman from Bremen."

Spiegel also reports on a response by the police:

'Fact is that we do not miss any of our men', said the police spokesman. In his opinion, such a thing does not belong “into a constitutional state, that would be disproportionate and not acceptable”. However, he said he was not informed about everything that for example the Verfassungsschutz (an Intelligence agency) does. A clear denial sounds different."

sorry for the terrible combination of google translation and my english ;)

now ya see? we may be violent, but it`s only in answer to the violence of the state.....
we refuse to lie down, but instead, realising the pointlessness of dialogue with our `masters`,jump up and slap our yoke makers......

A goverment agent could not provocate a mass of people to violent means except they already have the tendency to violent means against any oppressive or not authorities or situation.
It's common for the police to have informers, state employees or not,to look like protesters.
Any activist group should know who is who and who is not among the people they are marching with.
In many cases the police uses bogus ID cards-it's natural an undercover police officer not to carry with him his real ID card.
The people who are sellected,in order to intrude into groups-mostly resemble people whose photos are shown to familiar web pages eg the indymedia.network or other like-wise pages.
For instance,i met in the 2005 G8 summit in scottland,a black man who was an exact replicant of bob marley...i knew that was something wrong about this guy.He smelled to me,to fresh and clean to be a rastafari.

On the other side if a goverment agent did provocate a mass of people to commit any violent actions, this means that he completed his job successfully and you were fooled, like rookies.

Take care

Wrong facts and jumping conclusions

"Der Spiegel" is not a right-wing magazine (well it probably is in the eye of radical anti-capitalists but not in the eyes of the average social democrate in Germany) and is not owned by the conservative "Springer Verlag".

And there seems to be a lack of evidence that this person really incitied violence. The police states that he was just an observer. While the police certainly have an incencitive to lie so do the protestors.
