On Monday June 11 Dr Juan Dupuy, leader of 2,500 Cuban doctors who went to Kashmir to help the victims of the October 2005 earthquake, will talk about their experiences (preceded by a moving 15min documentary "On the Slopes of the Himalayas") - Quaker Meeting House, St James Street S1 7.30pm.

When a devastating earthquake hit Pakistan in 2005, Cuba sent 2,500 doctors and 32 fully-equipped field hospitals (of 44 in total sent by the outside world). The ‘Henry Reeve’ emergency medical brigade carried out 1.7 million consultations and continued working in the worst affected areas long after the TV cameras and other agencies had left.
