Cultural Centre in Berlin/Germany in Danger

unity means power | 25.05.2007 18:05 | G8 Germany 2007 | Free Spaces | Repression | Social Struggles

One of the last important non-commercial centers in Germany is threatened with eviction. There is a call for solidarity-actions on a global action day:

BERLIN: LEFTIST AUTONOMOUS CENTER IN DANGER –
FIGHT FOR KOPI !

On May 8th 2007, the autonomous Cultural Centre KOPI in Berlin + the trailer-park beside have been sold to a real estate company.
After 17 years of self-determined non-commercial work on politics & culture, the project is threatened to end; also more than 100 people are in danger of loosing their homes.

7 years ago, a first attempt to sell the KOPI failed because of the massive public resistance. Vast numbers of solidarity-actions, demonstrations + attacks scared the investors so much that in the end they withdrew.

Such withdrawal is exactly what we have to achieve now – and for this we need your support !

JUNE 12th 2007 - GLOBAL ACTION DAY FOR KOPI !

On that day we want to show through various actions all over the world:
KOPI doesn't stand alone!
Support KOPI on this (and every other) day with actions in your city !

Organize demonstrations, blockades + other spectacular actions at German embassies, German companies or other institutions that you think are appropriate!

Do graffiti, posters + street-art for KOPI!

Organize solidarity-parties + concerts for KOPI and donate!

Spread the message!

AND COME TO BERLIN FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DEMONSTRATION ON JUNE 16th 2007 !

As long as there is trouble, KOPI is no attractive object of speculation!

KOPI STAYS RISK CAPITAL !
