The Frightend Ones

The Politics of fear

In a government building yesterday a sign said."Threat level"."Hightend".When someone asked the security guard what it meant he said."Blairs a bit more worried about himself".I think he was referring to his close encounter with an unfriendly mortor shell. But the general overall impression is the british public are not intrested nor afraid. They are used to real terrorists who set off real bombs on a regular basis, the IRA.There was no erosion of civil rights then.So why is there now?Protecting the public is not the agenda. The real agenda is control.Control to the point of even making crimminals of the public if need be.The anti terror laws are not to protect they are to oppress. They are meant to scare the public. But it would seem the realy frightend ones are the government themselves.
