Corporate Oil Pirates

A new company seems determined to help sell off Iraq's oil reserves

I like many was sceptical at the invasion of Iraq 4 years ago but even I have been shocked at how brazen the US & UK Governments and companies like Shell and BP have been in trying to get their hands on Iraq's oil reserves, which as we know was the real reason for the war in Iraq.

I saw the impressive statement that was made by the reason demonstration outside the Shell offices in London, something I am sure the cigar-smoking, Burgundy-drinking fat-cats would not have enjoyed seeing, and I have to admit I laughed a great deal. The gall they show in colluding to continue the oppression of a great people all in the name of profit should leave them ashamed of themselves, and if they can't see how wrong they are it is down to people such as you to highlight this to the world.

Iraq is a wonderful country, full of lovely people. I myself studied in Arabic Studies at University, and was fortunate to meet an Iraqi, whose family had decided to move to the UK at the start of the Baath regime. He was a very good friend of mine at university and we still keep in touch, despite the great shame that I feel at my Government's decision to ruin years of friendship between our two nations. He himself lost some family members during the invasion, but I think he always hoped that after Iraq achieved sovereignty at least they would have full control of their own economy and would finally be able to make their own money.

Alas, with the cruel manipulation of Iraq's weak Government, this is no longer going to be possible and again it will be the West who benefits most.

One organisation seems determined to actively assist these companies in their theft of Iraq's oil profits for their own commercial gain and who do not seem to understand that they are undermining the whole process of Iraq's independence.

The company's name is the vaguely titled CWC Group, who seems to make a living out of putting on events in the lucrative oil field and who have now decided that Iraq is the cash cow that they want to vociferously milk. As you will see from the following link -  http://www.thecwcgroup.com/conf_detail_home.asp?FP=1&CID=178 - they are holding an Iraq Oil Event in Dubai in September, for which they will be taking huge amounts of money from oil companies in return for giving them a slice of Iraq's pie.

The CWC Group are based in Battersea, with their Managing Director listed as a Mr Timothy Clark. They seem well trained in putting on these corporate jamborees, with other Iraq events having been held and also new ones planned to take place soon, including events in London at the Millennium Hotel in July -  http://www.thecwcgroup.com/conf_detail_home.asp?FP=1&CID=172 - and at the Landmark in September:  http://www.thecwcgroup.com/conf_detail_home.asp?FP=1&CID=176

They have also listed their address on this page -  http://www.thecwcgroup.com/corp_detail.asp?AID=2 - which on a map shows it to be here:  http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=526651&y=176173&z=0&sv=SW11+3RF&st=2&pc=SW11+3RF&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

Am I alone in thinking that the shameless exploitation of Iraq by these people demands action, for people to show that we do not like moral-free mercenaries in this country and that most people find the selling off of Iraq's assets as completely unacceptable?

I think that as the moral defenders of the rights of the Iraqi people we have a responsibility to show these sorts of people that Britain is a 21st Century democracy and that forward-thinking British people are not prepared to tolerate such actions.
