Department of Health Leak: Government Can't Be Trusted With Your Details

NO2ID campaigners recently condemned the Department of Health's mass exposure of student and junior doctors' private information over the internet [1].
Highly sensitive personal details - including ethnicity, sexuality and religion - held on the controversial Medical Training Application Service system were openly available online.

Local NO2ID [2] campaigner, Dave Page, said:

"If the Department of Health can't even keep the details of thousands of junior doctors safe, why should we believe it can keep millions of people's medical records secure when they are uploaded to the NHS 'spine'? NO2ID strongly urges patients in Manchester to exercise their right to opt out of the so-called 'Summary Care Record' before it is too late [3].

"The government clearly can't be trusted with our sensitive personal information, yet it wants to collect details on everyone living in Manchester and put them in its giant ID database. With a system designed to allow tens of thousands of officials, bureaucrats and businesses to check you out how long before we see victims of blackmail, fraud and identity theft on a massive scale?"
