HBOS Plc AGM Brighton - Evicted Family Petition Executive Directors For Help

The Shalom Family Campaign for Social Justice | 26.04.2007 21:33 | Education | Health | Social Struggles | South Coast

Yesterday, (25th April) the evicted houseboat – ‘Shalom’ Family of seven, from Wales, called on banking giant HBOS PLC at their AGM which was being held at the Brighton Dome. A simple message, asking for ‘help’, was conveyed to the Crest Nicholson ‘major shareholder’, and a letter of petition was received by bank staff.

Dear Lady and Gentlemen,

HBOS PLC Please Help Us

Re- Crest Nicholson Plc

With reference to the above, may we kindly remind you that with our five young daughters, we have lost a perfectly decent, safe and satisfactory Family Home of 14 years, a beautiful way of life, and still, more than three years on, our Family’s personal private possessions remain seized and largely unaccounted for.

This situation is a total nightmare for our Family and it has been dragging on for too long. Please support us in our Family Campaign for Social Justice from Crest Nicholson Plc. Please help us!

We again kindly draw to your attention that we have very detailed records of Crest Nicholson’s conduct.

In light of known HBOS investments and associations with Crest Nicholson, and more lately, with the pending Castle Bidco takeover of the Crest Nicholson Group, supported by HBOS PLC, we kindly invite you to determine exactly what has happened.

We respectfully ask HBOS, that in the interests and wider terms of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, and mindful of the issues of ‘ethical investments’, you reconsider your former stated position in this matter, ‘directly intervene’ and urge Crest Plc to fully compensate our Family for our true, unnecessary losses to date.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

Vincent & Marie Louise Shalom

With Our Daughters,

Hannah, Naomi, Rachel, Rebekah, Jessica.

Letter ends.

It’s not the first time the Family have asked HBOS to help. Previous attempts have been made to help the bank understand Crest Nicholson’s awful and heavy handed conduct. However, all of the key Crest Nicholson staff, who were directly involved with this mendacious and wicked eviction have moved on.

John Callcutt CBE, former CEO of Crest is now resettled with Ms Ruth Kelly MP, Minister for Communities and Local Government. He is conducting the ‘Callcutt Review’ of house building delivery.  http://www.callcuttreview.co.uk/johncallcuttbio.jsp

Andrew Yates, who previously told the Shaloms that he didn’t think the children should become ‘involved’ in the eviction, formed Quay Marinas Limited, quite literally, out of the old stock of the previous Crest Nicholson Marinas company. Quay Marinas still operate from Penarth Marina in Cardiff Bay in Wales, and are still suggesting that their aim is to provide 'Safe Havens, Friendly Service and Fine Facilities'.

Gareth Stephens migrated to a safe haven, to “get away from it all” with British Waterways London to tackle the olympic sized job of Business Manager for Boating in London.  http://www.britishwaterways.co.uk/newsroom/stories/Visit_London_By_Water.html

On the day, HBOS staff were kind inasmuch as they provided a bottle of pop for the children with some chocolate, and a warm beverage for husband and wife, Marie Louise and Vince.

One sympathetic HBOS shareholder gifted her Halifax Bank of Scotland umbrella to the Family, whilst leaving the HBOS AGM 2007 suggesting that it should be stuck up somewhere, inside the HBOS AGM!
