eco bag fraud demo outside sainsbury's

Every time someone buys a 'Hindmarch Toxic Bag', planet earth dies a little more.

Sainsbury's launched the Anya Hindmarch toxic cotton bag nationwide today, in a massive 'we are green' fraud.

They are making much of the fact the bag is not made of plastic - but it is made of cotton insteard which is just as bad! The production of cotton is a highly toxic process, so selling the Hindmarch bag nationwide through Sainsbury's is just another in a very long line of environmental disasters.

Buying the 'I am not a plastic bag' is worse than driving 50 miles to buy a long life light bulb.

'Third world' farmers who grow cotton can die or go blind because of the use of dangerous pesicides forced on them by big chemical companies working in league with the cotton industry. In India alone it is estimated that about 142,000 people are killed or made sick every year from cotton production."

To raise these issues and offer alternatives Sainsbury's toxic bag launch was leafleted this morning .
