Prison-death demonstration, Derbyshire, 1 May 2007

A demonstration will be held outside HMP Foston Hall, Derbyshire
on Tuesday 1 May 2007, at 1.00 pm for the duration of the afternoon
to protest against the death of mother-of-two Kerry Devereux, aged 32
who died in the 'care' of the jail on 18 April 2007
Reporters/photographers are welcome to attend

(1) Banners will be displayed outside the prison, and flowers laid in memory of Kerry.
(2) Ms Devereux was on 'suicide watch' and located in the segregation (punishment) block when she died.
(3) Demonstration will be led by Pauline Campbell, mother of Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, 18, who died in the 'care' of HMP & YOI Styal, Cheshire, England, on 18 January 2003.
(4) Since Sarah Campbell's death, a further thirty-six women have died from self-inflicted injuries in Her Majesty's Prisons [England and Wales], despite being owed a legal duty of care.
