Done a bit of money laundering, major global fraud, well don't worry, HM's Govt will now let you off the hook,

but if you on benefits, etc then watch out, we are after you!

The treasury is to announce a partial amnesty for hundreds of thousands of tax evaders who hide money abroad in a move expected to bring more than a billion pounds into the Treasury’s coffers …

‘The offer will cap penalties at one-tenth of their current maximum. But investors will be expected to make full payment of all unpaid taxes over the past 20 years, together with interest. The offer is only open for a short period, with payments due by November ...

‘Tax evaders targeted by this initiative range from people who have unwittingly breached the rules to fraudsters and money launderers.’

as the blogger David Osler says, NL 'Soft on white collar crime, soft on the causes of white collar crime.' I'd also say its 'one law for them and one for the rest'. This is maybe yet another defining moment in the trajectory of new labour, brown and the move to a 'casino economy. Yet,there are never amnesties for those on benefits: in fact with all the reforms, constant 'benefit fraud campaigns' lie detector proposals increased frequency of medicals and interviews, it is getting worse.

shame on Brown and co...
