Indymedia Taken To Task

Publisher Fails to Remove Defamatory Article

Recently I took you to task for a highly defamatory article about me which you published on 27.08.2006 under the headline "Rod Vaughan Exposed. TV Expose Journalist Exposed as Child Pornographer."
I responded to this with a statement which you published on 5.04.2007 entitled "Rod Vaughan Rejects Damned Lies."
Since then I have discovered that the offending article can still be viewed on your website even though it is supposed to be what you quaintly describe as a "Hidden Article."
Furthermore it can be readily accessed through your search engine.
Given the extremely malicious and scurrilous nature of the article I demand that it is withdrawn from your website immediately otherwise I will institute legal proceedings to claim substantial compensation for the continued damage it is doing to my reputation as a journalist.
I await your immediate response.

Has it occurred to anyone that the real intent is not the money or defamation -- it's about shutting you down, you infantile twits!

Look up the word "concerted" -- only fools would believe these events are coincidences. Good luck kiddies, you deserve everything you are about to receive.

Sunday Herald forum

The Sunday Herald forum was shut down. The then NATO Secretary General George Robertson sue for vast sums of money after someone who hadn't posted before alleged he was part of a paedophile ring linked to the Dunblane massacre. The admin removed the post but the legal action wasn't dropped until an out of court settlement gagging the paper, compensating Robertson and shutting the forum down was reached. The forum had been a good source of anti-war arguments by that time, and the paper had been a pain in the arse to the neo-cons...

Remove this non news

15.04.2007 12:00

This thread is not news, and has nothing to do with grassroots struggle in the UK etc.

Please remove it, it's a waste of space and time.

The person complaining should address the appropriate mailing list, not clutter up the newswire.

please

Hot Air?

Why do I think that if somebody was ACTUALLY going to sue Indymedia, they would have ordered their solicitor to send a private letter by registered mail to the legally responsible people, rather than simply posting an empty (?) threat on a public forum?

Which, incidentally, has only drawn far more attention to the offending item which had long ago been forgotton by most of us, if we saw it (or cared) in the first place. In any case, most of us users are far too sensible to believe everything we read here without further verification.

You'll get laughed out of court

If you checked the mainstream news you'd notice that web sites (just like this one) cannot be blamed for information published by its members.

Get over yourself.
