13 April 2007 - Argyle and Bute, Scotland.

Three synchronised groups of Trident Ploughshares activists this morning blockaded every entrance to Faslane naval base, home of the United Kingdom's arsenal of nuclear weapons.

Faslane was completely shut for over two hours from around 0715, the "rush hour" period for traffic entering and leaving the base. 24 people were arrested, apparently on charges of breach of the peace.

In the light of a recent protest by local residents (see  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/6516351.stm), it should be noted that the blockades did not block the A814, the main road providing access to the Rosneath peninsula. As the attached photos demonstrate, the blockades took place well away from this route and only blocked traffic which was trying to enter of leave the base.
