" Remember EACH eleventh " . . . . Peace is possible 2 !

xx x x | 11.04.2007 15:21 | Anti-militarism | History | Other Press | London

Today,(11/4/7) as a reminder of the 11th of the eleventh commemorations in whitehall, where "those of all spiritualities", to paraphrase its designer, that suffer from wars, a series of surprise street theatre events using different excuses as cover shall take place in london amongst other cities etc, to combine with the usual week of reflection, teach-ins, info-actions etc - - - -

Seeing as these events are surprises, as is traditional explaining details might wait for a little, but keep your eyes open (!) - ambiguity is often used too, so you might have to think, too !

Others are encouraged to do things for themselves - allsorts !

For background info :
the early mention I could discover in this site of what is, for the most, "off line" as campaigns go, was from a peace camp, mentioning a quote from Eisenhower as apt as the quote from JFK - same era - used in the recent "Royal Society" lectures (Radio 4) when the speaker got such a barracking from the chosen "questioners from the audience" that I actually thought I might listen to it again!

The Eisenhower quote was quite a good "gist" of a bit of the campaign, with the " . . . . to remember : does that help ? " summary also in these newswires, or the recent "remember - peace is possible" posts, so despite the repetition, here it is again - a brief paraphrase of those bits in the 2004 press release.

"the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists . Its total influence is felt in every city, every state house, every bit of the federal government. We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, sought or unsought, by the " . . . . warbux minderbinder conmen complex . . . . "we must never allow the weight of this combination to risk our democratic process - or worse" . . . .
all our futures. . . .

( a deliberate little bit of misquoting so that you dont "quote" from this by mistake!)

The press release was from a peace camp with a sort of odd name that i researched a bit after it had also caused a couple of amazing comments following its post in the newswires of uk indymedia in dec 2004. . . . a sort of "chat" that we expect from all the wonderful things hear about the glorious "internet" but dont often discover.

The name of the peace camp came from "fae slain". Afore slaughter. The last "tribal feud" battle in Britain was a typical bloody mess, that meant - in effect - the wiping out of all the people that had spent the night prior to the battle in that quiet hollow by a stream looking out over the loch - hence the name. Odd place to put a nuclear weapons submarine base, perhaps, you might think, but. . . .

good luck to all those that do things for the "remember each eleventh" campaign, in loud, quiet, orthodox or unorthodox ways . . . . plus to the "allsorts discussions" that happen as we do
/ as you do

further news . . . . later
(good thing too)

- ITS OFTEN THE INTERPRETATION THAT "TEACHES" MOST - so guesses about events that might have some meaning are encouraged in the "comments" after this piece - cheers
