Birmingham Indymedia Screening: Iraq For Sale

IMC Birmingham | 03.04.2007 19:18 | Globalisation | Iraq | Birmingham

Birmingham Indymedia will be screening the Iraq for Sale – The War Pofiteers film at the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham on 10 April, 8pm. There will also be speakers afterwards from Corporate Watch and Hands Off Iraqi Oil.

Made by Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films, the documentary is about the ongoing Iraq War and the companies with no-bid contracts working in Iraq. Specifically, the film claims four major contractors (Blackwater, KBR-Halliburton, CACI, and Titan) are over-billing the government and, by extension, the American public and doing substandard work, while endangering the lives of American soldiers and private citizens. The film exposes these companies as composed of ex-military and ex-government workers who unethically help their companies get and keep enormous contracts and milk the American taxpayer. It is the story of the connection between the big private corporations that are profiting from the war on Iraq without oversight and the Bush administration.
