Jan Szyszko, Poland's Minister for the Environment, is planning helicopter flights over Rospuda, where nesting has already started. The minister wants to show foreign journalists and union experts the town along with presenting them with the itinerary of the bypass route, and in particular the section crossing the protected peat bogs of the Rospuda river.
"Flying over Rospuda during the nesting season is idiotic", confirmed an ecologist.

The Polish Minister for the Environment visits Augustów on Thursday. His proposed stay of duty is planned for next week's visit by the first european journalists, later union experts on environmental resorts. On 3 and 5 April they have a visit to the town, a meeting with residents and familiarisation with the itinerary of the bypass route, and in particular its most controversial section crossing the peat bogs of the Rospuda river. Within the frame of the visit the helicopter flights are planned over the terrain of the valley.

"Helicopters are very noisy", confirmed the ecologist. "A terribly frightening rumble to animals. Birds especially, which have started nesting. One would expect the Minister for the Environment to know about such an obvious thing."
