Privatising the NHS

Free healthcare for all... | 02.04.2007 22:12 | Health | Social Struggles | Liverpool

A private GP practice on Merseyside. Private health care for the paying patients only. Can we afford to let it happen?

Plans to open Merseyside’s first privately run GP surgery in Maghull have moved a step closer.

The new clinic was due to open last summer but the idea was put on ice by Sefton primary care trust after it admitted it needed to consult patients more before going ahead...Campaigners say that if Maghull residents do not start questioning the plans now they are likely to go ahead unchallenged.

Our NHS

If only it were our NHS. It isn't ours, it belongs to the staff, many of whom are lazy, disorganised or self serving. As the Healthcare Commision said a couple of years ago, the NHS often seems to be run more for the benefit of its employees than the patients. The NHS was a noble, idealistic and misguided idea that has failed. No other country wants to copy it. We Brits need to rid ourselves of it for our own good health.
