Try out indymedia mobile on your mobile phone or PDA

imobile | 30.03.2007 16:51 | Indymedia | Technology | London

Over the last few weeks a crack team of developers have been slaving away on an experimental new version of the indymedia site that aims to deliver improved access for the growing number of internet enabled mobile devices. Try it out yourself...

(((i)))mobile acts as a proxy between you and the actual indymedia site and strips out unnecessary tags and content in order to massively reduce the size of files being downloaded by your mobile device. Additionally the proxy adds navigation options specifically for mobile users that can be triggered by single presses of the numerical keypad.

As well as providing access to Indymedia UK and the regions, you can also use (((i)))mobile to access the newswires of Indymedia Bristol, Ireland, Scotland and the global site.

The publish form has been reduced in size and can be used to publish text articles but support for multimedia attachments has yet to be added.

The developers would love to have your comments, suggestions and feedback. Email them via imobile AT indymedia.org.uk

PHP coders with time on their hands would be most welcome to get involved in helping to tweak things further.
