Ken Livingstone's Spies in the sky?

qwey | 29.03.2007 22:35 | Technology

Another day, another wheeze from the man who makes the Stasi look laissez-faire on surveillance, London mayor Ken Livingstone.

It was announced that Livingstone plans to spend £12 million on a satellite to monitor motorists from space. Cutting out the need for road cameras, congestion charge monitors and ‘controversial mobile phone masts’, the scheme was rejected by the Department of Trade and Industry as unprofitable but leapt on by the London Development Agency who trumpeted the story across the media, despite the project’s launch date residing in the next decade.

And what a terrifying place the final frontier would be with Ken Livingstone as its Captain Kirk
