**THIS SUNDAY** Manchester's "ID Day" Demonstration

In January, NO2ID declared 'ID-Day' to mark the predicted opening of the first National ID Register interrogation centres. On Sunday 25th March, Manchester No2ID will be holding an event in Manchester City Centre as part of a nationwide series of events.

First-time passport applicants will be used as guinea pigs for the interrogation scheme vital to the overpriced, unworkable National Identity Register, and we will be informing the public about the full nature of this nefarious scheme to destroy privacy and waste money.

Manchester No2ID will be asking members of the public to be photographed anonymously for an electronic "wall of resistance" showing that people who are opposed to the NIR have nothing to hide, rather than the faceless criminals which the Government claim them to be.

We will be handing out informational leaflets in the city centre, not far from the Manchester interrogation centre in Westminster House on Aytoun Street, and encouraging people to sign a No2ID petition opposing the scheme. This is ahead of next week's Manchester City Council vote on ID Cards, which will allow the public to see which councillors want to waste their money ahead of local elections.

If you can make one anti-ID event in Manchester this year, make it this one. The stronger the turnout, the louder we can make the voice of opposition heard, the greater our chance to show the Government that we are not numbers and the greater the chances of this hopeless scheme being scrapped for good.

We will be meeting at The Basement, 24 Lever Street, at 12:30pm, and looking to head to Market Street, Piccadilly Gardens and/or St. Anne's Square, depending on weather and turnout, at about 1pm.
