New Camberwell Squatted Centre

The Unknown (for now) | 20.03.2007 07:59 | Free Spaces | London

It aims to be a centre for the local community and although it is open it has a more intimate atmosphere than it would have if it was in Central London. There will be cafes every Friday and film nights every Wednesday.

This coming Friday we will have the first café evening/night. Turn up from 5pm if you want to participate in the cooking and the sharing of skills of such sublime art. Turn up from 8 pm to taste the food and enjoy the lovely space.

As for films, so far this is what we have programmed already:

28 March: The London Nobody Knows – strange 1969 walkabout of lively London town – the people, the markets, etc

4 April: New Orleans Housing Struggles, Urban South African Dwellers Movement and POPE squat (Ontario Coalition agains Poverty)

8 April: NO TAV – The train stops here! - Hostory of community struggle in Italy against the Hight Speed Train.

11 April: the Brixton riots.

If you want to put on an event, and/or you want to help out cooking, do come along to our weekly meetings, on Mondays at 8pm.

The name of the street is Warham Road, off Camberwell New Road, the nearest tube station is Oval, buses are 36, 436 and 185 and this is a map:
