Help save Meadowbank stadium in Edinburgh

The council wants to sell off the easily accessible Meadowbank stadium to get some money to build a stadium in far less accessible Sighthill.

Public meeting 3pm Saturday 17/3/07

In their dying days the Labour Party who "run" the City of Edinburgh Council want to sell off Meadowbank stadium to get part of the money to build a new stadium at Sighthill. There will be facilities for fewer sports at Sighthill and it is a lot more difficult to get to. Some sports at Meadowbank have been ignored altogether.

The money from selling Meadowbank will not be ebough to pay for Sighthill. So the council are going to use PFI. There are already PFI schools and hospitals in Edinburgh with their criminal rates of interest which will drain public money for decades.

There is a public meeting at Meadowbank at 3pm Saturday 17/3/07.

http://www.savemeadowbank.org/ explains the council's plans, how they haven't bothered to consult the public on this plan and what you can do.
