This Friday is the 4 year anniversary of Rachel Corrie's murder in Rafah, Gaza.
She was an American peace activist in Palestine. As some of you may know Rachel had a lot of friends in Glasgow. A few of her closest friends who were with her when she was tragically killed will be in attendance.

A few of us are from different backgrounds, Muslims, Arabs, Christians and, atheists as well as UK born peace activists, Jews, Israelis and Palestinians (including some from the diaspora) will be remembering her at an open air public event outside Borders on Buchanan St from 4pm to around 6pm-7pm or so on Friday, 16th March. We will be giving out copies of her emails where she very eloquently, humanely and sensitively described the complex and horrific situation in the country.

We will be reading a traditional Jewish prayer for mourners, and include not
just Rachel, but all those whose lives have been cut short by the occupation -
Palestinian, Israeli and internationals. For the sake of unity we will only be
including civilian deaths, although I am aware that there is a range of opinion
amongst you all on this issue. I hope we can all agree that civilians on every
"side" of the conflict should be mourned.

There will also be traditional Arab/Palestinian/Lebanese customs to honour the
anniversary of her death.

Please come along. Please forward this on to others who may be interested.
