The Borough’s very own broadcaster, Halton Community Radio (HCR), wants YOU to volunteer for its next outing on the airwaves.
Budding presenters are welcome, as is anybody who wants to help out behind the scenes. The Station especially wants people who can volunteer in the daytime. Perhaps you've always wanted to be the afternoon voice of Halton or twiddle the knobs in a studio. Whatever it is you’re interested in, give us a call.
Always keen to try new ideas, HCR is also looking for creative writers and performers. We're planning to have drama and comedy, so why not give it a try 'cos it might suit you, Sir. Who knows: you might be the next Bruce Forsythe, or Ben Elton.
HCR has been awarded a five-year licence by Ofcom and intends to develop its role within the Borough. Previous 28-day broadcasts have proved popular because of the community content and the variety of music played. But the full-time broadcast will enable the Station to grow and to attract a bigger audience.
In the meantime, the Station is having another month’s airtime in order to try out a new, volunteer-led structure and there will be lots of opportunities for volunteers to become involved in the next broadcast. We want people to become all-rounders in radio production: this will increase your confidence, your skills-base, your attractiveness to employers and your enjoyment and sense of satisfaction.
Pete Muldoon, Volunteer Co-ordinator, says: “We’re all very excited. This marks a new era for radio in Halton. We’re looking for people from all walks of life.”
