Work in a state of Anarchy

It would be more to the point to enlighten us about how William Morris could say that 3 hours work a day would be sufficient - in about 1880. And suggest how people can reduce the amount of work they do now enough to prevent the Mass Extinction. Can it be done? .

the political idiots and imbeciles, allied with moronic scientists are rushing the destruction of Earth's ability to support Life. they are aided by Religions that have almost universally sold out to Satan. The only one that did not were the Shakers.

Hmmmm? It is on the 22nd of March, so you still haven't missed it! Come along, it will be an open discussion (as it should), more than a "lecture", so all issues any one is interested in can be brought up (including Willia Morris's ideas).

"It would be more to the point to enlighten us about how William Morris could say that 3 hours work a day would be sufficient - in about 1880."

Why not ? There were more workers then than needed produce even then, certainly if you include the "developing nations".

Don't you remember in the 1960s when we were promised a 'leisure-society' due to automation ? I think we were promised golf courses and hover-crafts too. There is nothing wrong with an unlit golf course, except for the fashion blunders, and hover-crafts aren't so hot really. Unemployment didn't start in the 1980's, it is just when our generation first remember it destroying communities. Share the work that has to be done, drop the work that is only aimed at empowering the greedy people killing the rest of us, relax a small bit and enoy your family when you still can. Use your spare time to commit a random act of benevolence.

"And suggest how people can reduce the amount of work they do now enough to prevent the Mass Extinction. Can it be done?"
Well, our current production of much hyped, advertised crap that quickly ends up unwanted in the back of our cup-boards while draining our future reserves of resources, poisoning our environment, that seems unfeasable. And a forty hour week supplimented by an extra 20 hours of unpaid overtime, it never did me any good. 35 hours is better, believe me. 3 hours, better yet. We are sold on the long working week on the back on the sex thing, that richer people are more attractive. Relaxed people are sexier, and are better in bed. I hate to confess or boast, but 3 hours work a day for me now, that sounds about right if somewhat of a struggle. Eight hours sleep, three hours working or going to school, half an hour shitting, two mintues making love and the rest of the time for games, inventiveness, going to quaker church, or doing good unto others - or alternatively posting on Indymedia. Even on the New Deal you get that fake, unpaid -work crap for 13 weeks, eight hours a day, every year and a half for no real reason and at a great expense to the rest of you wage-slaves.

My point is if some of you stressed out lab-rats woks less, and bought less crap, some of us doley-scroungers would pick up the slack just out of the goodness of our hearts.

Though most religions have their good points, I do love Quakers too - both the terms Shaker and Quaker were originally meant as insults you know, so don't be quick to offence.
