Fishy Fun on Trident Vote Day

Fish head | 09.03.2007 16:24 | Anti-militarism | Terror War | London

On Wednesday 14th March, MPs will vote on whether or not to replace Trident - Britain's nuclear weapons system. Lots of actions are being planned for the day of the vote, among these is a "Fish on Bicycles mass cycle ride" around central London.

Inspired by Steve Bell's cartoon depicting Tony Blair demanding a replacement to Trident and a fish demanding a new bicycle, the cycle ride will demonstrate how utterly pointless and ridiculous the government's plans really are.

Meet at 6.30pm under Waterloo Bridge on Trident Vote Day: Wednesday 14th March. Bring anti-Trident messages, and dress as a fish or other non-cycling amphibian to highlight the pure stupidity of replacing Trident.

You can download specially-made "fish on bicyles" race cards displaying Steve Bell's cartoon & to be attached to the front of bicyles at:  http://www.tridentvoteday.org.uk/race2.pdf and  http://www.tridentvoteday.org.uk/race1.pdf

Fishing impersonating is of couse optional... so if you're not feeling too fishy but want to come down and support the ride anyway, please do!

You can find more info and details of the other actions taking place on the day of the vote on the Trident Vote Day website.
