2 Astonishing news this week:

- After analysing and assessing independently by the consultant group Scott Wilson

the variants of the road Via Baltica through North-East of Poland
they managed to find out the whole bollocks ;

Due to their assessment (of 50 versions) by analysing possibly the best variants
they left only 5 for the final,
and the currently chosen variant was already not there...;

From the point of view of the economy it is not the cheapest one,
and relatively longer...;
'Socially is not impressive';
And environmentally this one (chosen) is most damaging;

- The second discovery

...was that the road was not only planned, but put into build
before finishing Environmental Assessment (still in processing)...;



- The other discovery made by one of environmental ngos',
was following the Goebbels motto - that 'a lie repeated 1000 times
becomes a truth' - disclosed that, although there is a very dangerous
and harmful traffic on the Augustów highroad, then not 20 people
die every year on the road (as ministers, other authorities and Augustów boars
stated), but 1...

The area:

'The ministry of environment' allowed to shoo the protected birds
and destroy their nests during the eggs laying period ,
on the areas (not included within the Nature 2000 conservation
programme) of Rospuda Valley...


The campaigners left in the area a patrol of few persons,
checking any danger. They are there with basic equipment,
and other supplies, to get engaged if there is a need...
Other 'rescue team' of activists is ready to 'land'
in the area within 10 hours from being informed;

'International forces of reaction' are being formed...:

As I said above all we will need even few, but experienced
people...

In general:

- period of protection for the endangered birds living on Rospuda Valley
lasts from the 1st of March to August...;
The greenpeace part of the protest, which created a skeleton
for most of the actions and their publicities rolled up the camp for this period;
(it was based on hope that the protection period will be respected);

- Suprisingly (in comparison to greedy attitude of the authorities)
the company who won the contract (and though is greedy anyway)
claimed to respect the period and not to conduct any buildwork
in the area...
Although we don't know if it is true, and maybe at the moment it is
a fear of paying European Tribunal verdict (which is even then good,
as long as there will be some positive for Rospuda verdict).
