NATIONAL DAY TO DEFEND THE NHS
South Yorkshire Demonstration
Sheffield: Saturday March 3rd
Stop the cuts
No to privatisation!
Assemble 11am Western Park March to Sheffield Town Hall
for Rally with speakers.
A major event supported by Unison, Keep Our NHS Public< Amicus,
NHS Together, TUC, GMB…
NHS: the future?
Tony Blair has promised that 40% of NHS work will
be carried out by the private sector by 2008.
What does this mean for our health service?
GPs are forced to buy operations from Independent sector treatment centres
and have to pay even when they don’t do the operations. Last year Nottingham paid £3.97m for procedures in 2005 - but more than £2.5m worth of
operations were never performed.
Health Visitors in Sheffield have been threatened with one third of their jobs to
be cut.
Sheffield Children’s hospital is due to cut £9 million from this years’ budget .
Blood Transfusion centres are to be slashed resulting in job losses and leaving
Manchester to cover the whole of the North of England.
These are just a few examples, the speed of the take over by the private sector is
about to increase dramatically in the NHS and profit will come before patient care.
