Radley Lake: The injunctions begin

A man in tears | 16.02.2007 07:57 | Ecology | Repression | Social Struggles | Oxford

Freedom of speech is ending at Radley Lakes. Injunctions are being served to restrict reporting and prevent protest.

Widespread injunctions are being served.

* npower has served an injunction on the Save Radley Lakes campaign to take down its website
* npower has served an injunction on NQO, publishers of the Oxford Mail and Times; this appears to restrain them from taking any photographs within a mile of the site
* The Oxford Mail reported overnight that npower has served "a far-reaching injunction against protesters' right to demonstrate. The injunction prevents demonstrating against the electricity company [and] protesters are not permitted to remain on, trespass, or conduct any demonstrations or protests within half a mile of Thrupp Lake."

These are "gagging" orders, to be heard in full in April, once the Lake has been destroyed. The local media are terrified.

I hope the webmasters have no intention of complying with that take-down notice; but just in case, I've taken the liberty of mirroring the site here:

Vote them off

Please can anyone supply the names of the County Councillors who voted in favour of destroying the lakes. We could then start a campaign to make sure they get voted off at the next election.
