8 charged under new SOCPA amendment

Following raids 2 months ago, 8 anti-fur activists have been charged under section 1A of the protection from harassment act 1997.

Section 1A was introduced by the SOCPA 2005 to now make the definition of harassment to include conduct on one occasion only, provided that it involves the 'harassment' of two or more persons and is done with the intention of persuading them to do something that they are entitled not to do or not to do something which they are entitled to do

The activists are bailed to return to the city of westminster magistrates court on Monday.

We live in a country where sticking your tongue out at someone will soon be deemed a serious organised crime. This is outrageous. Good luck to all those in court. I hope that the case gets thrown out on its arse like it should be.

Stand up

We have to keep standing up to be counted and not let the same people get isolated and banged up for what should be our legitimate right to protest. When enough people stand up to it, the crappy law will be unworkable and cost too much money to pursue.
