Smoking Ban
Publican | 15.02.2007 14:00
The smoking ban that comes into force on July 1st will be policed by snoops able to film and photograph anyone in enclosed premises smoking. With powers to issue on the spot fines. It won't take long befor these snoops are well known.I will be barring them from my premises,as is my right.I also intend to put a brazier in the beer garden that will be fueled with tabbaco.

Do as you are told and have a long and boring life.
By the way , smoking is not illegal.
You cant have it both ways. Name me something else that raises so much revenue through taxation , can cause you to be arrested or fined for doing it , and will be policed for free.
I think they call it the slippery slope.
Fall for it if you want , its much easier isnt it.

Another way of looking at it

You could equally well say that we non-smokers have the right to breathe clean air. And if you don't like it don't come in. Stay at home and smoke instead.
Whether smoking is allowed or not inconveniences one group or the other. Up until now non-smokers have had to put up with breathing smoke or staying at home. You are right that we do not have to go into pubs and that is mostly what I have chosen up until now. But now it is exactly the same case but the other way round - smokers now have to put up with not smoking or stay at home. You don't have to go in pubs either. You've had it your way for decades but now we as a society have decided that the balance has shifted. How is this more unfair than what non-smokers have had to accept until now?
