How is killing a horse any worse than killing a cow or a pig?

I think

I think killing a horse might be worse than killing a pig or a cow because horses, as a companion species, have been taught to trust us. And we have been freed to love them (platonically) as a result. It therefore feels like a bigger horror and a bigger betrayal.

So it's an emotional thing, which is perfectly valid, I think. Of course I know that pigs and cows are also sensitive and sentient beings and I would not want them put through this torture either. But it's rare that people are allowed to get close enough to them to realise this.

So I totally support this campaign, and thank the poster very much.

if your a troll,F""k off, its obviously not worse, but then some people like certain animals more than others or target one industry at a time,

I still don't see how it's any worse to slaughter a horse. Look at pigs, they're extremely intelligent creatures, more intelligent than horses and possibly even more so than dogs. In some cultures, a horse is no more a companion animal than a cow or pig. At the end of the day, these other animals don't suffer any less than a horse. That's all that should matter, anthropomorphism shouldn't be a factor.

Still disagree

Humans have formed a bond with horses, as they have not done with pigs and cows. Realistically, this is because the horse's usefulness as a form of transport (have you tried riding a cow?) has made its longevity desirable. But, I repeat, this concern for another creature's well-being, no matter how selfishly motivated, has enabled humans to "get to know" horses and love them, and vice versa, and so the brutalisation of this species is more intolerable for those people than others.
