Capitol Of Culture

Next year Liverpool becomes the capitol of culture 08.The photographs attached to this story have had only miminal publicity in Liverpool so i publish the story in IMC UK to attract wider publicity.

With the money making prospects of 08 political snouts were quick to get into the trough. The great fiasco of the new tram system saw the compulsary buying of property's along the east lancashire road (A580) towards Kirkby, the proposed route for the trams. One estate in croxteth (see photo) had many home occupiers and was in a good condition, though there were some flats that no one wanted and were run down.Naturally some people objected to this and did not want to move. And not at the price the council were offering for their homes. So they held out.But a good many did not. House's became empty and were soon vandalised and set on fire. Those that remained are prisoners in their homes, afraid to go out for being burgled.
Then the bombshell. There was not going to be any new tram route. There was not going to be any money for it.The original cost had increased so much the government said enough is enough and pulled the plug. And with it the purchase of the remaing few homes was off too.So people who worked hard all their lives to buy a house and make a home in a nice community that looked out for each other are left isolated amidst ruins.Ruins that were created by the council. The council are the vandals that destroyed that community not the bored kids who saw empty building they knew were coming down.
To date the only money they have invested in this estate is to pay workmen to remove a large mural from the gable end of one house facing the A580 saying,in the words of Ricky Tomlinson."Capitol of culture my arse".
