JOINING THE POLICE IS APOSTASY

Recently there has been a surge in the recruitment of Muslims to become part of the British army, navy and police force under the pretext of equal rights and race relations, to the point whereby the kuffar are going out of their way to recruit Muslims into these institutions offering them various incentives in return. The sad reality is that many Muslims have fallen into this trap by joining these institutions believing it to be a valid profession and a valid means of provision. The incentives offered to them and the ease in becoming recruited into these jobs has led many people to become blinded into joining them. They see it as no more than a job like any other that pays bills and gives them a status within society without considering, for even a second, the Islamic implications regarding it.

There is no doubt that for a Muslim to implement, enforce or judge according to non-Islamic (kufr) law is completely prohibited. This is a clear violation of ones belief and a betrayal to Islam and Muslims. How can it be that a Muslim who believes Islam to be the truth and a superior belief then implement and enforce a law and order that completely opposes it? Yet this is the job of the police officer. Allah (swt) clearly prohibits us from implementing kufr law calling the one who does so a kaafir. “And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the disbelievers” [EMQ 5:44].

These institutions are the very people who are responsible for the killing and raping of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are the ones who are conducting a campaign of terror in the Muslim world and in their own country towards Muslims. They have arrested and detained hundreds of Muslims, insulted our Deen, violated the sanctity and honour of the Muslims, how then can we become part of such institutions? How can a Muslim become part of the very police force that is waging a war against Islam and Muslims? Allah (swt) states in the Qur’an; “You will never find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (i.e. the Kuffaar and apostates), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people).” (EMQ 58: 22)

Let it be clear that the only reason for this mass recruitment drive among the Muslim community is so that they are able to get Muslims to spy upon one another. They aim to use Muslims against one another and to be able to access areas they themselves are not able to. We find that many ‘Muslims’ in the police force like Tarique Ghafoor are bending over backwards to please the kuffar, working against the Muslims. Such people not only assist in the arrest and imprisonment of Muslims but they also advise the British on introducing legislation to curb the activities of Muslims. Islam clearly forbids a Muslim to spy on another Muslim whether to benefit himself or others, Allah (SWT) says: “O you who Believe avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicion is a sin. And spy not on one another neither backbite one another.” [EMQ 49:12] In this Ayah Allah (SWT) forbids Muslims from spying on or even doubting other Muslims. And this prohibition is general and includes all kinds of spying on Muslims whether to benefit the one spying or any other person.

It is also reported by Muslim upon the authority of Abu Hurayrah and in Ahmad from Abu Barza Al-Aslami (ra) that the Messenger Muhammad (saw) said: “O you who believe from your tongues but whose Imaan has never settled in their hearts. Do not backbite Muslims, do not follow up their aworaat (e.g. spying on them or tracing their errors and personal affairs); whoever does so Allah will punish him for all his errors and will expose his affairs even if he is settled in his own home”. Islam has therefore specified that spying on people and working for people who spy on others are both haram. For those who claim that they are doing no more than a job, we remind them of the saying of the Messenger Muhammad (saw), who said: “Whoever earns a bite of food by reporting or spying on Muslims, Allaah will feed him the equivalent in the hellfire, and whoever wears clothes earned from spying against Muslims, Allaah will clothe him with hellfire.” [Narrated in Sahih Al-Bukhaarie, in Kitaab ul-Adab]

The kuffar want the Muslims to become entrenched in the British system, legal and judicial, so that we are made to feel part of British society like everyone else with the eventual aim of stripping us from our Islamic identity. They want to integrate the Muslim community into their society and way of life making us live, act and behave like them. The Messenger Muhammad (saw) said: ‘The believers are a brotherhood to each other, he should not oppress him nor give him up to the Kuffaar’.

This hadith indicates how one can become an apostate (i.e. Murtad) by helping non-Muslims against Muslims, for example by handing Muslims over to the non-Muslims, even if we agree or disagree with the Muslim. This is the case for those apostates who are currently arresting Muslims, and assisting in their prosecution be they the ulama or duaat, handing them over to the kuffar, to do this is a clear act of apostasy. Indeed to side with the Kuffaar against Muslims is considered to be an act of apostasy, as mentioned in the Qur’an: O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Auliyâ' (friends, protectors, helpers, etc.), they are but Auliyâ' to one another. And if any amongst you takes them as Auliyâ', then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allâh guides not those people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong¬doers and unjust). [EMQ 5:51]

The Messenger Muhammad (saw) said: ‘Support you Muslim brother whether he is an oppressor or oppressed’ to which his companions asked ‘How do we support him if he is an oppressor’ and he (saw) replied ‘By helping him prevent his oppression’. This means that a Muslim must always stand side by side with his fellow Muslim and he will never have an excuse for siding with the kuffar over Muslims.

The Messenger Muhammad (saw) forbade Muslims from pointing a knife at another Muslim, even as a joke, when he (saw) said: “Whoever points a small knife or piece of metal jokingly towards his Muslim brother, the angels will curse him and he will never smell paradise.” What then of shooting, arresting and imprisoning Muslims or fighting and killing them. The Messenger Muhammad (saw) said: “A Muslim is the one from whose hand and tongue his Muslim brother is secure.”

This is clearly not the case for those who join and become part of the police force. Do not be fooled into thinking that by joining the police you are doing good and benefiting society, the only one that you are benefiting is shaytaan against you on the day of judgement.
