Prison death demonstration, 24 January 2007, Gloucestershire

A demonstration will be held on Wednesday 24 January 2007
at 1.00 pm, for the duration of the afternoon,
outside HMP and YOI Eastwood Park, Gloucestershire
to protest against the death of Caroline Powell, aged 26
who died on 05.01.07 while in the 'care' of the jail

(1) Banners will be displayed, and flowers laid in memory of Caroline.
(2) Reporters and photographers are welcome to attend.
(3) Demonstration will be led by Pauline Campbell, mother of Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, 18, who died in the 'care' of Styal Prison, 2003.
(4) Prison address: HMP & YOI Eastwood Park, Church Lane, Falfield, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, GL12 8DB. Prison is signposted from M5 (junction 14).

Criminal trial resulted in acquittal

Pauline Campbell was arrested and charged at the demonstration to protest against the death of the young mother Caroline Powell. After a total of seven court appearances, she eventually stood criminal trial on 26.09.07 at North Avon Magistrates' Court, resulting in an acquittal.
