FREE WALES ALLIANCE | 16.01.2007 19:56 | Climate Chaos | Ecology | Repression | World

National Grid blatantly abused health and safety regulations yet again today when a peaceful protester d-clamped himself to a crane at their construction site at Alltwen in the Swansea valley. Despite calls from onlookers that he was clamped by his neck, national grid / nacap staff started up the crane and proceeded to move it with the protester attached who was approx 45 feet up in the air...................

The HSE have been advised of this matter, but no comment is as yet forthcoming.

This is the second time in the last 9 days that construction staff have endangered the lives of protesters.

The police took no action against either the protesters or national grid / nacap.

Construction staff also threw verbal abuse at the protesters and smashed an expensive digital camera owned by one of the protesting observers.

However footage of the demonstration is attached to this release ......

SafeHaven network are calling for the dismissal of the construction staff involved and their managers.

They are also calling for compensation for the destruction of the private property of one of the protesters.

Basic human rights are being abused by national grid and their contractors. this pipeline is controversial and dangerous. how far do protesters have to go until the welsh assembly calls in this insane project?
