A number of homophobic faith groups protested outside Parliament in London today (09.01.06) against anti-discrimination laws. New rules outlawing businesses from discriminating against homosexuals were upheld in the House of Lords. A number of LGBT people also protested against the faith group’s protest.

socpa status?

can anyone confirm whether this demo had police authorisation under socpa? it was held in an unusual spot for protests. i'd be intrigued to know whether these 'christians' are above the law, as businessmen, oaps, and mps have been previously.

"A number of homophobic faith groups"

Please define "homophobic"?

are gays Heterophobes...?

We all have different values and beliefs, get over it.

I remember Peter Tatchel and his chums highjacking a demonstration that Lindsey German attended along with many others, and subsequently Newsnights Gavin Estler astonishingly accused ‘the left’ of being homophobic because they were unhappy their demo was highjacked.

Now I learn gays highjacked a demonstration held by religious groups opposed to homosexuality.

Presumably therefore gays would tolerate their opposition highjacking any demonstrations they called…….?

Somehow I doubt it.

I also doubt the police would tolerate it as it would no doubt be seen as confrontational and prejudicial. Why then did the police tolerate gays acting confrontational and prejudicial at a religious demo opposing homosexuality?

Homosexual prejudice against these law abiding people is just as bad as prejudice against homosexuals.

Do unto others, or you’re a fucking hypocrite
