The US led war in the broader Middle East Central Asian region has the purpose of gaining control over more than sixty percent of the world's supplies of oil and natural gas. The Anglo-American oil giants also seek to gain control over oil and gas pipeline routes out of the region.

Political language, as used by politicians, does not venture into any of this territory since the majority of politicians, on the evidence available to us, are interested not in truth but in power and in the maintenance of that power. To maintain that power it is essential that people remain in ignorance, that they live in ignorance of the truth, even the truth of their own lives. What surrounds us therefore is a vast tapestry of lies, upon which we feed.
As every single person here knows, the justification for the invasion of Iraq was that Saddam Hussein possessed a highly dangerous body of weapons of mass destruction, some of which could be fired in 45 minutes, bringing about appalling devastation. We were assured that was true. It was not true. We were told that Iraq had a relationship with Al Quaeda and shared responsibility for the atrocity in New York of September 11th 2001. We were assured that this was true. It was not true. We were told that Iraq threatened the security of the world. We were assured it was true. It was not true.
The truth is something entirely different. The truth is to do with how the United States understands its role in the world and how it chooses to embody it.

That's exactly what happens when someone posts a thread about 9/11 on the general forum of urban75. it draws our activism away from the real and ongoing crimes of the state? The GENOCIDE ongoing in Iraq is this not a crime of the state? I would say it was and a war crime.
The attacks of September 11th 2001 have been used, on both sides of the Atlantic, to justify a spectrum of attacks on civil liberties and illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The 9/11 Truth Movement fears that until the lies are exposed the attack will continue to be used to justify perpetual war, with the next one possibly being with Iran and/or Syria, and further attacks on dissent and freedoms at home. In the UK post-9/11, steps down the road to a police state have included terror raids, shoot to kill, detention without trial, torture training, profiling, rendition and a host of other Orwellian "Big Brother" proposals like ID cards. http://www.no2id.net/
While people are busy being hooked on watching yet another Celebrity Big Brother series on TV the fiction rapidly moves towards reality. The UK already has more CCTV cameras than any other country in the world. Your emails ( http://http//earthfirst.org.uk/actionreports/node/2092) can be read and the history of your websurfing analysed without a court order by six government agencies and the Police. Your land line can be tapped. Your mobile phone acts as a tracking device and vehicles can be tracked across the country through number plate recognition software. The Police now have the power to access your NHS records without having to establish that a criminal act has taken place. The measures taken by the UK government in the name of the "war on terror" have severly damaged civil liberties and human rights.
The western antiwar movement - the left boot of imperialism? ( http://nafeez.blogspot.com/2006/09/censored-urban75-forum-bans-british.html) The silence of the western antiwar movement on the lynching of Saddam Hussein is deafening and is increasingly beginning to prove what a lot of discerning people have suspected all along – that the mainstream anti-war movement (including large parts of its left wing) in the west is the well concealed left boot of western imperialism, the conscience of the conqueror.
The main reason given by western radicals – including many on this u75 for ignoring the Murder of the deposed Iraqi president is the crimes against humanity he has allegedly committed. How many of these ‘left’ activists then would welcome a Chinese invasion of the British Isles, the sacking of British cities, the incarceration and torture of tens of thousands of English youths in concentration camps scattered along the Yorkshire Dales, the murder of a million British citizens (the equivalent of the Iraq dead) if the reason Beijing gave for the invasion was to arrest, try and execute Tony Blair for the limitless war crimes he has directly and indirectly carried out in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine over the last three years – killing in Iraq alone (in 3 years) more than Saddam killed in 35.
Saddam Hussein has not been tried; he has been executed by the west’s leaders, while their ‘radical’ sons look the other way. If a serial killer was brought to trial in the UK and during the trial three of his defence lawyers were kidnapped, tortured and murdered, (clearly by state agents) the media lens message board for one will be heaving with anger and righteous fury, but now there is only silence.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister's office has said that "freedom of thought and conscience" are limited rights in response to online petition calling for halt to erosion of civil liberties. In a response to a petition on the PM's website calling for the "halt to the erosion of civil liberties and rights," the Prime Minister's Office responded saying that "The majority of the Convention rights are, however, limited or qualified. Examples of these rights include: the right to respect for private and family life; and the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. Limited and qualified Convention rights can be restricted."So after they've taken the rest of my civil liberties will the government be sending round the thought police to make sure I'm not thinking any "terrorist thoughts"? I'm sure I accidentally thought of a few just reading the PM's statement.I'd ask if Tony Blair has a conscience about removing people's civil liberties, but it appears he has limited his right to one.
The full response from the PM to the petition can be found below and at http://www.pm.gov.uk/output/Page10666.asp http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/liberty/Thank you for your petition dated 16 November entitled "Halt the erosion of civil liberties and rights"Human rights belong to everyone in the United Kingdom and give a very important means of protection for all. The Human Rights Act puts public authorities including Government, hospitals and social services under an obligation to treat people with fairness, equality, dignity and respect. It ensures a level of service below which no public authority should fall.
Anyone who questions 9/11 or 7/7 is automatically a 'conspiraloon' and is ridiculed forever more even if you are suspected of having leaning toward these thoughts much the same happens as we have seen with enumbers aka e19896 over the last few weeks and as a friend i have been watching and reading the nasty shit unfold along with the attacks upon him
If you read http://www.urban75.org/info/about2.html then read http://www.urban75.org/info/about3.html urban 75 has a radical past and it has played a very real and valued role in The direct action movement http://www.urban75.com/Action/index1.html and i would argue those who ask questions are not 'conspiraloons' ( http://www.urban75.org/info/conspiraloons.html ) but people who have very serious doubts over events such as 9/11 and the bombings on the 7th of June 2005 this dose not make myself or others a
conspiraloon but someone who has concern over the way we are going here in The UK it has become a sad day when urban75 has ceased to become the radical tool it once was. Where McCarthyism ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_McCarthy) has become the norm instaed of debate.

Oh and please shut Sheffield IMC, they have had feature article about 9/11:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2006/09/350617.html
And even worse have screen films about 9/11:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2006/05/341703.html
What has become of Indymedia -- it seems to be somwhere where people dare question the justification of the imperial oil wars, this clearly must not be allowed.
Bring on the witchhunt.

"How dare you question our glorious imperial leaders over their wonderful stories about 9/11 and 7/7"
It's not the questions that sane people are sick of, it's the fact that 'Truthees' turn up everywhere evangelising with fuck all evidence and attacking and insulting anyone who dares question 9/11 & 7/7 "truth".
It really has nothing to do with activism. It's just a big fishing club. If these people were true activists they'd be interested in addressing the issues of the the War on Terror[ism] that are easily proven.
Instead, they congregate like petulant and arrogant children posturing as though they are most clever people on the planet not to have been taken in by the grand conspiracy.
Ever wondered why the majority of people including the most clever people in the world aren't buying into "Truth"?
Let me predict the answer: they have either been brainwashed or they are part of the conspiracy or they live in fear of the conspiracy.
How convenient. How arrogant. How deluded.
Is this thread really news anyway?
