Race hate yobs attack nurses

NURSES in North Liverpool are coming under attack from racist yobs.

Four blocks of flats in Falconhall Road, Fazakerley, are coming under constant bombardment at night, leaving residents too scared to go out.

Many of the nurses have been recruited by the NHS from India to fill hospital vacancies and they say the racist abuse is getting worse and are worried things could escalate.

Minu Subash , a nurse working at Fazakerley hospital, said: "We are really afraid to go out at night because of young boys roaming around outside.

"I have stopped them trying to take my car and they tried to smash their way into a flat through the window.

"When you say anything to them or chase them away, you get 'paki this' and 'paki that'. It is all the time."

Rani Thomas also works at the hospital and lives on Long Lane. She said: "We have all had some problems.

"There has been stone-throwing and cars have been damaged. People won't go out at night because of it."

Landlord Glenn McDowall said: "Starting some months ago, local yobs have been throwing eggs at the flats occupied by the Indian nurses and screaming abuse such as 'Go home pakis'.

"The harassment is now escalating."
