Westgate Centre approved

Westgate Centre approved.

The Secretary of State for Local Government (Ruth Kelly) decided yesterday not to 'call in' the massive expansion of the Westgate for public inquiry. Barring any further developments, it now seems set to begin construction (and the bulldozing of peoples homes) some time next year.

Just what isn't needed

Just what Oxford needs. More bloody shops so people can wile away their free time buying rubbish they do not need and stimulating the equally pointless shopping conversations. More cars, more pollution, health effects, less housing, small businesses forced out, business pulled away from suburbs of Oxford. Another town centre dominated by big shopping chains. Planners in bed with contractors.
We can look forward to all of the above and a non- descript characterless crowded, polluted city centre. Hope there is a place for a plaque somewhere for the planners responsible.
